Contact call
When the actor taps call/video on the contact page: it rings, then shows Call Failed. End always works.
Auto plays incoming messages on their delays; the actor types each Me message in Present. Cue reveals each incoming message only when crew taps the conversation (or the operator cues it) — no visible button on camera.
Participants (group thread)
Add two or more to make this a group thread: incoming bubbles show the sender's name + color, and each incoming message can be attributed below.
Messages
The whole conversation, in order. A Me text message becomes an actor-typed beat in Present (tap → keyboard → Send); a Them message plays on its delay as the reply.
Scene timeline
Pre-program cues to fire on a clock. In Present, hit ▶ Play scene and the beat sheet runs hands-free from the start.
On-camera safetyflicker · PWM · moiré
A prop screen that looks clean here can band, flicker or moiré on camera — none of it fixable in post. Enter the camera + device specs for a banding read. Guidance only; always confirm on a monitor.
OLED / backlight PWM Refresh match: poor — likely banding/flicker
The exposure spans 1.25 refresh cycles (60 Hz ÷ 23.976 fps = 2.50 cycles/frame). Whole cycles = even integration across the rolling-shutter scan. Partial cycles make each rolling-shutter row integrate different energy → visible bands.
- At 60 Hz, a shutter near 144° would capture whole refresh cycles (1 per exposure). Alternatively set the device refresh to a multiple of 23.976 fps if it lets you.
- Note: 23.976 fps can't be perfectly harmonic with an integer-Hz display — expect a slow residual beat even at a "matching" refresh; a static frame avoids it entirely.
- Regardless of the score, disable auto-brightness / adaptive-refresh, and if banding shows, hold a static frame (no scroll/animation) through the take.
Refresh only. Most phones/OLEDs also flicker from PWM dimming the refresh model can’t see — set the PWM field above to model it, or raise brightness to force DC dimming.
Before the take, on the device
- Turn off auto-brightness / True Tone / adaptive refresh and set a fixed level — a screen that pumps mid-take is a retake.
- An emissive screen at full brightness blows out the actor’s face; drop the device’s brightness until the screen sits in the room’s exposure — but note dropping below the PWM threshold can reintroduce flicker, so balance the two.
- Hairline strokes and 1-px dividers alias into moiré on a bare sensor — favour ≥ 2-px strokes and solid fills on hero close-ups.
- Black level & glare: OLED true-black can crush and disappear on a low-key / Log capture, while an LCD’s backlight glow lifts blacks; and a glossy screen mirrors the set — flag or polarise off-axis lights, and mind reflections in the glass.
- If the device offers a colour-management toggle, set it to sRGB: this prop’s colours are authored in sRGB, so a wide-gamut (P3) panel or a Log / ACES capture will shift hue and saturation — treat the screen as an sRGB source (an IDT / input transform in an ACES grade) and confirm on a calibrated monitor.
